THE HANGED MAN

Xll
THE HANGED MAN--RULED BY NEPTUNE

KEYWORDS: Time is indicated, enlightenment, hang in there.

Spiritual Meaning: Time is needed for creative growth.

In this card you see a man "just hanging there". You'll note, that he really doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, it's almost as if he is there by choice and quite relaxed.

He is hanging in the form of the astrological "t-square", and his head is encircled by a yellow halo of light. In the Science of Colors, Yellow represents enlightenment and the picture tells us that enlightenment will come, but we must pass through a period of waiting before it arrives.

The Astrological Ruler of this card, Neptune, is an elusive Planet, and when it is involved, the answers we seek will not, as a rule, appear quickly. It is also the planet of creativity, and this combination tells us that enlightenment will usually come through a creative method, but it will take time.

The Hanged Man is one of the few cards in the deck which denote "time", and it basically means, "hang in there, enlightenment is coming." You cannot force Neptune to show you the answers upon demand, and it will not do so until you have reached the enlightened state.

The Numerological correspondence of this card is Three (one and two). The Number Three stands for creativity, and true creativity is spontaneous, not forced. Perhaps it would be fair to say that first comes enlightenment (an idea), then the creative process can begin.

When you encounter this card in a reading, it tells you that you should be taking your time in searching for the answer, that your answer will come in time, but you should not attempt to force it.
